Catherine's Milestones
![]() |
This page will have Catherine's milestones listed as she reaches them. I can't wait to share all of her golden moments! |
November 2001~ Started to coo and make different sounds. She also smiles whenever she is excited or sees something she likes or knows.
December 2001~By the end of December she is starting to grab for things. The sucks on her fists, fingers, and whatever she can get into her mouth. She also enjoys to watch cartoons. We can also clip her fingernails without a problem.
January 11, 2002~ She can roll from her chest to her back with her hands set in front of her so that it holds her head up at a 90 degree angle. (3 months)
15 weeks ~ She started "talking" again. How she squeals, laughs and talks to herself. We bought her a walker, which she loves, and now she happily spends more time on her tummy. She has started to really stick things in her mouth, including her fists, and drooling.
3 months ~ At the beginning of 3 months, she started to hold herself up at a 90 degree angle. She also started to be able to turn her head from left to right (from one shoulder to the other).
February 7, 2002~ 17 weeks 2 days: She ate some Malt-O-Meal off a baby spoon. Not starting on solids, but seeing if she'd eat off a baby spoon. We'll wait for doctor's opinion on starting solids.
4 months ~ Started to laugh when tickled.
February 12, 2002~18 weeks (4 months 3 days) Started her first solids! This week: Rice Cereal. Don't think she really likes Rice Cereal...but have you tried it?? YUCK!!!
February 18, 2002 ~ 19 weeks (4 months 10 days) On to her next solid....Oatmeal. So far, so good.
February 28, 2002 ~ 20 weeks 2 days (4 1/2 months) On to her next solid...Barley. Tonight she had Rice Cereal, Oatmeal and Barley...all mixed with grape juice! So I guess she has also had grape juice!
March 1, 2002 ~ 20 weeks 3 days (4 1/2 months) Now eats her cereals with diluted White Grape Juice. She also gets to drink diluted White Grape Juice from her "Juice Bottle".
March 5, 2002 ~ 21 weeks (4 3/4 months) Started veggies! We started with Carrots. She really likes them! Next will be squash after the carrots are gone!
March 9, 2002 ~ 5 months old. We tried squash today and she liked them. At first she had a funny look on her face, but then she wanted more and more.
March 11, 2002 ~ 21 weeks 6 days (5 months) She rolled over from her back to her tummy. She has only done it 3 times, but we will continue to give her more opportunity. She will only roll when wearing only a diaper. I was excited because I got a picture of her right before she rolled over. I actually wanted to get a picture of her on her side, which she is, then she rolled right on over to her tummy!
March 21, 2002 ~ 23 weeks 2 days (5 months) Found her asleep on her tummy! She also sleeps on her side.
March 23, 2002 ~ 23 weeks 4 days (5 months) We tried peas today. Again the funny face, but she wanted more and more!! She has also started to blow "raspberries". She babbles and spits. It is actually kind of cute! It has happened!!!! She said "mama"!! Twice in fact! Mike and Steve are my witnesses!!!
End of March 2002 ~ 24 weeks (5 months) According to Daddy and Grandpa, Catherine said "grandpa" while in Reno, NV. I'm not be surprised! She is starting to sit up a little more on her own, but still falls over after about 30 seconds or so. She is also working on crawling. She is really growing fast....
She has eaten a variety now! Squash with Corn, Mashed Potatoes, Applesauce, and Bananas. All of which she liked. She really does not have a favorite, but she eats them all!!
April 8, 2002 ~ Almost 6 months (one day off) HER FIRST TOOTH!!! That's right she has her first tooth!!
April 13, 2002 ~ 26 weeks 4 days (6 months) She is able to sit up. I have to get her on her bottom, but then she sits there and plays. Check out the video on the index page.
April 14, 2002 ~ 26 weeks 5 days (6 months) Second Tooth!!!
May 1, 2001 ~ 29 weeks 1 day (6 months) Got her first professional pictures done at Sears. She loved the camera and was a real ham!
May 3, 2002 ~ 29 weeks 3 days (6 months) She is crawling.
May 2002 ~ 7 months - She is pulling herself up by using everything from the table to the couch to her crib! She is starting to walk around by holding on to things. She has also taken to squealing and babbling more and more. She says "mama", "dada", and "baba".
June 6, 2002 ~ 7 months 28 days - She took her first little step without holding on to anything. She also motioned "up" for me to pick her up! She was tired of sitting in the shopping cart!
June 2002 ~ 7/8 months - Everyday we hold one or both or her hands and walk around. In fact, with me on one side and Mike on the other, we all walked from the car to the apartment. Her walking is getting progressively better everyday! She is crawling like crazy! She can now follow us from room to room! She really loves the shower and bathtub. She has also been in the swimming pool a few times! She loves to slash! She can really hold up her bottle now, and every once in a while we will give her a sippy cup, which she does VERY well at!!
June 21, 2002(a.m.) ~ 36 weeks 3 days (8months) SHE TOOK HER FIRST STEPS!!!! A good 6 steps without holding on to anything! It was amazing. She was all happy and smiling! She also CLAPPED for the first time while she was standing in between steps! Watch for video coming soon!
June 21, 2002(p.m.) ~ 36 weeks 3 days (8months) She has her third tooth!!
July 9, 2002 ~ 9 months/39 weeks - She stands up on her own now. She still crawls, but we see her standing and walking a lot now. She likes to walk and follow. She also has found that she likes computer keyboards. She likes to pretend like she is a big girl and type like mom and dad do. We have to unplug one because she kept turning it on (which you can do with that keyboard). She also figured out a way to take the keys off my portable's keyboard. That computer is now closed all the time! She is growing big and liking to walk!
July 13 & 15, 2002 ~ 9 months - She is receiving her two front teeth. In all she now has 5 teeth with more on the way since she is STILL drooling like mad!!
July/August 2002 ~ 9 months - Well it is official, she can now take off her diaper! I have to put shorts on her 24/7 or else she rips off the diaper!! Her walking has gotten faster, and she enjoys walking. We moved up to the walkers section of Gymboree, and she loves being the youngest in there. Makes her feel like a big girl! She is very good at climbing upstairs, however, we are working on the down part.
August 10, 2002 ~ 10 months - She has her sixth tooth, the right eye tooth. That makes 4 on top and 2 on bottom.
August 31, 2002 ~ 46 weeks 4 days (10 months) - Another tooth! Bottom left incisor.
September 1, 2002 ~ 46 weeks 5 days (10 months) - Another tooth! Bottom right incisor. She now has 8 teeth. Four on top all in a row, and four on the bottom all in a row.
August/September 2002 ~ 10 months - Well, she is starting to distinguish mom and dad. She understands everything we say, and sometimes either mimics or answers back. For instance, she understands "bottle" and will sometimes say "baba". She is pretty much running now. She can be very quick. She understands how to go downstairs, but she only goes down one step and then climbs back up. She'll get the courage! We are getting ready for her one year party in Idaho in October.
September 2002 ~ We are going to admit to everyone now that our little daughter is very smart. She may not know how to talk yet, but she knows exactly what we tell her or say to her. For awhile we were not certain if she related ma-ma and da-da to us, however, now we know she does. She was saying, what we thought was da-da, to things and pointing at them. Come to find out she was saying "dah" for "that". She also hugs stuffed animals, and kisses us! She even offers us kisses...mind you they are open mouthed...but it is cute just the same. We think we have got her to blow kisses, but she sweeps her hand down her lips and makes the smack noise instead of "throwing" the kiss! It too is not perfect, but just as cute!
October/November 2002 ~ What a couple of months!!! She celebrated her first birthday on the 9th. By the end of October she has all of her first molars except one on the upper left which she received in the beginning of November. That makes a total of 12 teeth. She did skip over the canines (the ones in between the front four and the first molar). She is very individual, but still loves to have mommy or daddy right there. She is babbling constantly, and we can not wait until she starts to form more words. She talks to us, but nothing specific comes to mind. She loves the song The Wheels On the Bus. She does most of the hand motions and sings some of the words. She also loves to watch cooking shows. Those really catch her attention. Her favorite is Emeril. We are working on the sounds that animals make. She likes to get dressed, but still can't quite do it by herself. We still get hugs and kisses, however, it is more hugs then kisses. She still drinks formula, but we also give her milk during the day. She successfully drank out of juice box. She also eats whatever we eat, and she is always right there when we begin eating something...even is she has something in her hand or mouth already. She is continuing to grow everyday, and we love to be able to share it!
November/December 2002 (13/14 months old OR 1 year 1/2 months old)~ My ohhhh My! What a last couple of months! She is really talking! Lots of babbling. She listens to us talk and tries to talk to us. She loves to play her JumpStart Baby computer program. We spent Thanksgiving at our friend, Amy McGuire's. It was really fun! I made ham and rolls. Then we had Christmas at our other friend, Steve's house! I made Prime Rib! He spoiled Catherine with a lot of fun educational toys, including a cute, little baby go cart and two ride on toys. She loved it all and still plays with it all! We have moved away from formula and have started vitamin D milk. She gets that and cups of juice. Her teeth total has moved to 16! She is just now receiving 15 & 16...which are the top left and right canines. We keep wondering if she is ever going to stop drooling. We have started the potting training, but nothing too harsh. We put on there, but don't stress about her using it.
Beginning of January (going on 15 months-1 year 3months) ~ We have taken off one side of Catherine's crib and she has a bed that she can get in and out of. She has gotten good at telling us when we need to change her diaper because she just went pee-pee. We have started to notice when she starts to go poo-poo, so she has used the potty twice! She is also really talking! Her vocab contains: take a bath, bye bye, diaper, bear, Pooh Bear, MaMa, DaDa, milk, BaBa (bottle), ow, tickle tickle, baby and yeah. We are really excited about her growing!
January-March (15-17 months)~ I know I am behind! She has grown A LOT!!! We had to put the side back on her crib, but it is no longer all the way up. She has only climbed out once. We are still slowly working on potty training. She likes the idea that she gets chocolate for sitting on the potty. At Gymboree (a gym for kids) she has started to crawl again and going through tunnels, which she was very against doing. She does, however, now hate the automatic carwashes. She used to go into them all the time with us, but now she freaks out as soon as the car enters the wash. Not too sure what we'll do about that. She is in the stage of dealing with all of her new emotions, and deals with them in tantrums. It is hard, but we take in in stride. Her vocab grows everyday. She now says: no, ok, wanna get out, park, thank you, up, down, and other that I can never remember! She gets smarter everyday!
November 14, 2003
Oh my gosh where to start! She is growing as you can see from her
pictures. I hope to still get some video up, or at least some audio bits
of her talking and/or singing. She is talking VERY well now. She
uses sentences with at least 6 or more words in them, and understands just about
everything we tell her. She can now carry on small conversations.
She is also defiant like a 2 year old. We are still potty training, but
she has gotten to the pull-up stage and telling us she has to go. She absolutely
will NOT wear big girl underwear no matter who is on them! (We know...we tried
pinks ones, purple ones, Pooh ones, and Dora ones!)
She moved to a mattress on the floor in her room and we sold the crib
.
She sleeps on very well, and hopefully I can get her bed done soon (had it since
June) so she can sleep in a big girl bed.
We went up to Idaho in June for Mike's birthday. Cate loved to see all her
family!
She has been going to daycare since August and LOVES it! She only goes 3
days a week in the afternoon, but she can't wait to go and makes sure to tell
us. They are also helping in the potty training!
Her 2nd birthday was celebrated at Gymboree. She really enjoyed it!
We had our friends Amy & Shannon, Megan & Jonathan, Amee, Jacob &
Emme there to celebrate with us. She was so excited leading up to the
day! All she talked about was her "happy birthday at Gymboree"!
Hope that is all and I did not forget anything. Watch your email for
updates of her pictures.
2 Years Old- July 9, 2004
Oh my gosh where to start! Finally finished her bed for Christmas
morning! She sleeps in it most of the time. Lately she has been
sleeping in a ball "tent". We have extended her daycare to 4
days a week, 1/2 days, and now she is in Preschool! In January 2004, she
became potty trained and now is proud to wear her underwear! She is
talking more and more everyday! She can now open the fridge and get
herself her milk cup and then moves to the freezer to get a frozen waffle,
without cooking it!! Mike told me the story, and I saw the half eaten
waffle! Guess I should start putting things she can eat on the bottom
shelf of the fridge! I can't believe that in 3 months she'll be 3 years
old and that she is going to be a big sister in January! Watch your email
for updates of her pictures!!!
3 Years Old ~ March 9,
2005
Again...where to start...Updates are actually getting easier. We had
a progress report from Preschool (daycare) at the end of February and she is
doing wonderful. She is the only 3 year old that they can put onto the
computers because she has such wonderful control of the mouse. She knows
her name and can spell "Cate" . She can almost spell
"Catherine" but gets lost around the first 'e'. At school she
even recognizes her classmates names. She likes to play the "What
starts with...?" game. She is very good at telling us what starts
with a particular letter. She'll even go the other direction with saying
the word and then what it starts with. She may even be on the way to
writing her name. However, she gets very frustrated. She is also a
typical 3 year old...fits and all!
As far as being a big sister, she is enjoying it to a point. Not sure if she likes the attention not totally on her, but being 3 with someone taking some of the attention away is hard. She does like to hold Kara and try to comfort her when she is crying. Pretty soon they will be sharing a room.
Be on the look out for emails for updates...Cate's site is slowly being updated, but is one of my goals!
